Enjoying the hand accuracy for making a frame just using Japanese saws, chisels and good marking. This little project took me up to Christmas where I have four different joints: lapped dovetail, hidden mortice with secret haunch, lapped mitre, and finally a mitre with tongue. The wood has been kind to me on this project.
It's been fun working away... trying to create two oak-based picture frames for marquetry and veneering. All made with hand tools with no machinery involved. Just need to get the outer chamfering sorted and it's all sorted.
I'm working with Yuri Karpov at Golden Hands in Newbattle (near Dalkeith, Edinburgh), where I'm learning traditional cabinetmaking and fine woodworking techniques mainly using hand tools... here a bowsaw with japanese blade.
